Why do you lot come here,
when everyone seems to be fighting, attacking,ignoring and abusing
each other.It reminds me of the old firm games,I stopped going to because I was ashamed as an Irishman,to hear 90 minutes of insults, verbal abuse and hate, at least that's in the decline, at the games, it's alive and well fed here all right.
I've lived amongst hatred in Belfast I've seen people killed because of it, you lot just remind me of the bigots who couldn't see past their years of bitterness. I wish I'd taken Alex's warnings about you seriously.

no. i am not saying that. there are a few users who i never liked, but i never respond to there comments, and by doing that, they stop winding me up, because they know they are not getting a reaction

As for myself, I don't spend much time on the actual site, and when I do, I usually have publics off. I come here for the boards, as I find some of the discussions here of interest to me. I also come here to meet the ocasional new person, as I do like meeting new people. Finally I spend most of my zone related time on VT, though I see the VT croud and the zone website croud as 2 different groups that happen to overlap in some cases.
Unfortunately people usually see only the bad points for something and not the good points. It happens everywhere. It also happens in relationships that's why people split up very often but this is not relavent to this topick lol. Simply if you don't like something on the zone don't get involved. Only get involved with the things you like.
Does it strike anyone as interesting that Alex, aka Goblin kept talking his friend, then he practically disappears from the zone and his friend shows up, talking and acting like goblin, the language, the points, the expressions, the arguments ... one begins to wonder in fact whether it isn't one and the same person, just with a new character background. Not that there's anything wrong with that really, after all one can be whoever he wants to be on the Zone, I could be a lesbian truck driver from Kansas .. hmm .. interesting idea, I'll consider it.

I come here mainly to read and post to Board topics, and I usually have Public QN's off. I agree that there is too much unnecessary fighting on here, and I really try to stay out of those discussions if I can help it. The only time I posted in a topic I would've normally stayed out of was to defend myself because my name was mentioned and I had been publicly put down by someone who I never even talked to to begin with. That is the only time I know of that I was picked on for no reason. I had had other instances here where I was told something regarding my thoughts/opinions on something, but I would only say something (in defense) if that person commented to me directly if it was in a disrespectful way. Otherwise, I like comeing here and just stay out of the personal dramas that go on around here because I don't know most people well enough to strongly put down or defend them anyway, and even if I did, I really don't care to get into that stuff. Otherwise, I have met a few cool people on here that I like chatting with, I sometimes like playing the games or taking some of the quizzes, and some of the discussions can be interesting to read and respond to.
To Post 8, Yeah, and I haven't seen CG on here much at all either. That ~*ThunderousMidNight*~ person somewhat reminds me of her, but I can't and won't say they are or could be the same person. I'm thinking maybe they might know each other or just have similar writing styles. (I know my sister and O&M instructor do because they always use that "..." (the row of periods thing) between every few words and/or between sentences when typing.) So that's what I'm thinking with those two and with Goblin and Speedy, maybe they just have similar personalities/typing styles. I do actually wonder what happened with CG and Goblin though and sometimes miss reading what they have to say.

To the original topic question, I "waste time" on here because it is a good way to waste time. I originally joined the zone at work as a way to waste time when I wasn't busy enough. Once I got a computer for home, I came on in the evenings and weekends as well to waste time when I was bored. I play games and read the boards mostly. Only occasionally di I participate in quicknote conversations. Over the three years I have been a member, I have gotten to know some very nice people and talk to them with private quicknotes mostly. I do sometimes turn public quicknotes on, and if a fight is going on, I turn them back off. I have not been picked on per se, on this site, although there are some people I don't care for and so just avoid talking to them. I have only had to put a very few people on ignore, but I suggest the ignore feature as a way of avoiding people you don't like.
Now as for Wildebrew's comments...I always knew there was something different about you. ROFLMAO.

I know what you mean, and as I sit here reading this post, I think to myself, why do I post on any of the other boards except elderfolk? good question. well my mind came up blank for a few minutes, so i sat scratching my head and thinking really hard about this one, and I've come to the conclusion that putting certain peopkle who pick on me on ignore, or people who are just plain mean on ignore make things a bit better for me. If it weren't for the ignore feature, I wouldn't post on the boards at all, except elder folk which sadly, doesn't have much trafic on it at the moment. If i'm picked on because a post I made was considered pontless, I just give it back to that person and put him or her on my ignore list, as with the person who was picking on my post about the lack of gothic novels, because she considered boring. I only took her off my ignore list because she responded to a topic of mine, but will put her back on it. I find sometime leaving for a while is a bit calming, and sometimes things get a bit better orseem to, if i leave a place for a while and come back a few weeks or months or so later,

Stevey I know exactly how you feel, those who pretend to like you one minute, hate you the next, and most on here judge, or form non-logical oppinions about a person before they've spoken word one to them. I actually left for a short time, five months or so, but do come on here to play a game or to as it does tend to relax me and help calm my nerves.
I've learned an incredibly harsh lesson over the past month or so.
If anything, this lesson has taught me to be very, very circumspect about what I say, and who I interact with.
As the saying goes, don't trust anyone.

I hardly start any topics anymore, but I will reply to a post if I sympathize with the poster, or can identify with him or her. mostly if I just reply to people but don't start my own topics, I'll be ignored without being put on ignore, lol. that's probably because my replies are too far down the list of messages, and by the time I reply or by the time people find it, they've forgottenwho said what, hee hee. if anything, I think the zone has taught me to be hard hearted, not to everyone, just certain ones, and it's taught me I pretty much can handle most things on here without having to go to an admin or cl. I've maybe had to go to a cl once because of some sight problem, but not because of what anyone was doing to me.

To be honest I don't see why anyone would continue to come back to a site if their only experiences of it were negative. Even if there were some people they liked talking to and the rest were horrible, there are always tools such as msn/skype etc, so there would never be any need to return.
and voiced wildebrew's point almost the first day I saw speedie's posts, strikes me as just too much of a coincidence that goblin would disappear one day and speedie (that would be the friend turned stalker turned hero wouldn't it?) appeared the next.
But each to their own and all that. Goblin was hugely unpopular on this site, so I guess it's only fair that someone who wanted to be accepted would create a new persona to do that.
Yeah, I hate it here, we have users like Hope putting all of us down, I'm really only here until she leaves and we find a better user than her, or at least until her exclamation keys (shift or 1) break down.
Steevie I agree with you! B I find your post funny! I don't put any one down. Everyone at least most of them starts with me. I'm tired of people telling me things about my bf that aren't true! I guess that's why I'm upset. Another thing is that if you're Christian they put you down for that too.
Right so. It's nuts, the crap on the intro page threatens you with all kinds of nasties if you don't behave, and look at the abuse handed out here on a daily basis, and guess who's at the heart of it.

depends what you consider to be a personal attack though doesn't it? Saying that speedie and Alex are almost certainly the same person isn't a personal attack - it's a personal opinion. One which is apparently shared by many on here.
But you contradict yourself here - you ask why people come back if they don't like the abuce and yet you say you don't like the abuce you've suffered at the hands of others and yet you still come back. why?
